The purpose of this description is to perform various assignments in the capacity of a volunteer for Collier County Government to provide services in general, to the community at large. Each particular assignment will require different skill sets, hours and locations. Some of the following duties may be assigned depending on volunteer assignment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.Marketing and Public Relations
: Gathers, writes, and edits material (visual and written) to be used in website updates and public relations initiatives. Updates Tourism website calendar of events and populates content on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. Assist Tourism grant recipients with gaining publicity for their activities by attending festivals and surveying guests. Make hotel follow up calls to confirm event lodging. Assist in developing itineraries for visiting travel journalists and escorting press tours.Sports Marketing
: Updates Sports Website calendar of events and populates content on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Assist sporting events promoters with publicity and document their activities by attending events and surveying guests. Assist with pre and post event quality assurance. Onsite attendance and observation of operations during tournaments and other sports activities.
College student in his 3rd or 4th year of college; Hospitality and/or Sports Management majors preferred, but not required. Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing and vision skills. Drug Screening, Fingerprinting and/or other background checks may be required based on assignment. Prior to operating a County vehicle, a volunteer must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and undergo a DMV check.
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some bending, sitting, walking, stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
