Title: Lawn Service Lead Technician
Reports to: Owner
Overview: This position is for a part-time/full-time lead service technician, responsible for running the route efficiently, effectively, and with a great eye for quality. 95% is residential, 5% is commercial. All residential is in Cape Coral; commercial is in Fort Myers. The shop is located in North Fort Myers. The Lawn Service Lead Technician will be the route leader, and work with another technician full-time (35-50 hours/week) during the rainy season, and possibly part-time (20-35 hours/week) during the dry season. Together, the lead and helper will perform the duties as assigned and briefly stated below. For the first 90 days, the “Probationary Period”, this is a contractor/1099 position. An offer of W2 employment with paid holidays and vacation time will be offered after the initial probationary period, to the technician who proves him or herself on the job. If the employee wants to remain a 1099 contractor, that is allowable, as well, so long as certain requirements are met. We are not a pest control company, so this is not a position for spraying people’s yards or homes. This is strictly for majority residential mowing, weed-whacking, edging, blowing, shrub trimming, rock/mulch bed weed control, occasional small tree trimming, clean ups, and small landscape jobs.
Required experience, traits, and skills: You must have verifiable experience in residential lawn service – minimum 1 year, including some of that as a lead person. You must have a valid driver’s license, with minimal points in order to insure you reasonably. The traits and skills you much have are: strong work ethic, honesty, dependability, reliability, punctuality, excellent customer service skills, self-sufficient, self-starter and more. Must be physically and mentally able to handle working outdoors in the Florida sun, heat, rain, humidity, and bugs! It is also expected that if you have a year or more experience in the residential lawn service business, you will be familiar with, and efficient with a multitude of different pieces of equipment. Experience with safe driving of a diesel and pulling large and small trailers is also required.
Scope & range of responsibilities and activities: Lead technician on maintaining grounds of customer’s property using hand or power tools or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, debris removal, fertilizing, digging, raking, spraying weed treatments to rock/mulch beds, manual weeding, hedge trimming, tree trimming (under 15’), and more.
Miscellaneous: Uniform shirts and safety equipment (safety glasses, gloves, earplugs) will be provided and are required on the job. Employees may also provide their own safety equipment, if desired. The employee (W2 or 1099) is responsible for providing his or her own work pants, work boots/shoes, and hat (if desired). Long pants (jeans, overalls, or work pants), and closed toed shoes like work boots or sneakers, are required. No shorts or open toed shoes are allowed. A wide brimmed hat, a face bandana (or similar), and sweatband or do-rag for your head, is also recommended.
